camping- Island Park

Oh camping... how we have such a love/hate relationship! I absolutely love the following about camping: marshmallows, camp fires, laughing, reading, laying in the sunshine, playing on the boat, playing games, the smells and sounds, not having anything to worry about and having some of my favorite people in the world to spend time with. I absolutely dislike the following: dirt... ok well not the getting dirty part, but the lack of a shower haha. Janet and I froze our tooshies off in the lake with our evening bath. I may just have to get myself one of those hanging showers for the future!

We seriously had so much fun this year watching Emmett play outside. He loves his uncles and his grandpa and dirt and the water and motorcycles and his bike. He was in heaven. Janet and I had the chance to stay back on shore and just have a chat in the peacefulness of the woods... oh it was wonderful!

Bri and Nate brought their nieces and nephews up for a visit. They kept Emmett occupied so well and he just loves playing with them. They caught frogs, a toad, and dug a "hot tub" The funniest part of the whole hot tub situation was its location. It probably was not the best decision to build the "hot tub" hole right by the stairs leading into the lake. As you can see in the pictures below, their unintentional booby trap caught Jake on his way out fishing in the float tube. We all had a good laugh over that one. I can't believe I managed to get it on camera! Sorry Jake that we had such a good laugh at your expense! Oh and one last thing, I brought many swim diapers, but by the time I got clean clothes on Emmett, he was ready to get back in the water. We laughed so hard with how full just a regular diaper got after a few minutes of playing with grandpa in the mud. Oh it was a good time and we look forward to so many camping trips in the future! :)

4th of July... A little late... :)

The older that Emmett gets, the more exciting that holidays get with him. He thought that the 4th of July parade was awesome. Especially all of the trucks! I love every one of his expressions and he gets more and more animated every day :)

Just takin' a break to chow down on some tootsie rolls!

Grandma took him over to see the older folks that were lined up behind us. He won them over with his little smile and knuckle bumps. Grandma helped him share his candy that he had collected with them, because they couldn't reach any themselves. I was proud of my little boy for sharing so well. I love that he is trying to make sure that they noticed the fire truck driving past. Oh his love for fire trucks is so fun!

Later that night, we decided to do some small fireworks at my parent's house so that he wouldn't be overwhelmed by the big ones. Grandma and Grandpa Clovis even stopped by to firework it up with us! I think that my dad enjoyed it even more than Emmett!

Playing with "poppers" He was so proud of himself! It was even cooler to stomp on them he discovered.

It was all fun and games until the fountains came out... and then he jumped right up into my lap and wouldn't budge! They were a little louder than we had thought and he wasn't really sure about them. Maybe next year!
